Focus Areas and Expertise

Founder and Experience

Raised in Pompano Beach, Florida, Herman Lindsey experienced firsthand the impact of violence, abuse, poverty, police misconduct, inadequate legal representation, and an unfair justice system. Following his exoneration, he dedicated his life to criminal justice reform, education, and advocacy. Herman has trained in mitigation practices through Amicus and the FIU Balance Justice Project under Hannah Gorman, earned certification in Private Investigation, and is completing his Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies.

Our Vision

We believe justice requires teamwork, accountability, rehabilitation, fairness, and second chances. Herm4Justice works to support innocence claims when appropriate while also helping individuals who genuinely want to change receive opportunities to become productive members of society. By bringing together attorneys, investigators, mitigation specialists, families, and people with lived experience, we help create stronger advocacy and better outcomes.

Transforming Lived Experience Into Justice Advocacy

Herm4Justice is a criminal justice consulting, mitigation support, and advocacy organization founded by Herman Lindsey, Florida's 23rd Death Row exoneree. Drawing upon personal experience, professional training, and years of advocacy, Herm4Justice helps attorneys, defendants, and families navigate the criminal justice system with honesty, compassion, and practical guidance.

Defendant and Family Support

Many defendants and their loved ones are overwhelmed by the criminal justice system. Herm4Justice provides guidance, support, and education to help families understand what lies ahead while helping defendants make informed decisions based on facts rather than misinformation.

Case Consultation Services

Herm4Justice is available to consult with attorneys and defense teams on active cases. As someone who has personally experienced wrongful conviction, incarceration, and exoneration, Herman offers unique insight into client engagement, mitigation development, family communication, and rehabilitation-focused advocacy. All consultations are conducted only after appropriate confidentiality, and non-disclosure agreements are executed to protect attorney-client interests and sensitive case information.

Our Mission

Herm4Justice assists attorneys in uncovering critical life-history information, mitigation evidence, and circumstances that may otherwise remain hidden. We help defendants understand the legal process, plea negotiations, sentencing exposure, and the real consequences of decisions made throughout a criminal case.

Building Stronger Defenses and Mitigation Cases

Our goal is to help legal teams develop stronger, more complete representations of their clients. Through mitigation investigations, life-history development, and client-centered support, we seek to identify factors that demonstrate rehabilitation potential, accountability, and opportunities for positive change. We believe many individuals were never given the tools necessary to succeed and deserve the opportunity to present their full story.

Speaking, Training, and Consulting Services

Herman Lindsey has spoken nationally and internationally on criminal justice reform, wrongful convictions, mitigation, reentry, and death penalty issues.  Organizations, universities, legal associations, law firms, nonprofits, conferences, and community groups may book Herman for keynote presentations, panel discussions, workshops, and educational events. Herman also provides training for attorneys, law students, mitigation specialists, investigators, and criminal justice professionals on building trust with clients, communicating with justice-involved individuals, understanding trauma, and developing more effective client relationships.
